About

Maeve Keane is a writer and teacher from Cork.

Maeve graduated from the MA in Creative Writing at the University of Limerick in January 2023, and was a participant in the Stinging Fly Summer School in July 2023. She was granted an Arts Council Agility Award in 2023 to work on a collection of personal essays.

Recently, Maeve was awarded the Betty and Jenny Bursary by Children’s Books Ireland (sponsored by author Rod Smith) to revise her debut children’s novel, The Island Crematorium, during a week-long residency at The Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig.

Maeve’s writing has featured in journals such as Unapologetic, Swerve 2, Drawn to the Light Press, Ropes, Oranges, The Storms, and The Ogham Stone, as well as on ShorterStories.ie and on podcasts such as The Jealous Wall, and Eat the Storms.

Maeve’s short story, Hazel, was published in the From the Well 2023 anthology and performed at Cork International Short Story Festival. Her story, Checkout Number Four, was highly commended in the Seán Ó’Faoláin International Short Story Competition.
